Wolverine MP3 Player

Posted by: Asher on 04/02/2006 06:42 AM
The Wolverine MVP portable media player (PMP) recently scored distribution at outlets like Target, so I thought I'd give it a look to see what you get for your money. I tested the 60GB model ($399.99 direct), but it also comes in a 100GB ($499.99) and an industry-leading 120GB ($599.99) capacity. This chunky PMP has a lot to offer, including a 7-in-1 card reader, line-in recording, an interesting accessory set, replaceable/upgradable parts, and some very handy photo-related features. Unfortunately, the audio and video quality isn't great, the interface is pretty low-budget, and it has a few quirks.

Hardware for a Dare

Posted by: Asher on 08/13/2005 02:46 PM (Read: 386)
The prize was a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop ? retail value $1700. The competitor hopped on stage and was told in order to walk away with it under his arm, he would have to a) pluck one of his eyebrows out with a pair of tweezers, then b) get a reverse Mohawk shaved into his head. He never hesitated and the eyebrow was history in under two minutes as the crowd cheered and cringed simultaneously. (An nVidia spokesperson later told me the contestant later confessed to working at a bank. Should be an interesting Monday at that branch.)

AMD is Giving Intel a Kicking

Posted by: Asher on 06/17/2005 01:34 PM
"At the end of the day it?s easy to see AMD as the clear, overall leader of the pack when it comes to having the ultimate desktop CPU ? their chip hauls ass, runs cool and is priced very competitively to Intel. One of the biggest challenges as a reviewer is quantifying in words the difference running a dual-core CPU can make in ones overall computing experience."
